Danny Benima leaving Stedin Group

Rotterdam, 28 November 2024 – Danny Benima will leave Stedin from 1 January 2025, Stedin Group's Supervisory Board (SB) has announced. Danny has been Chief Financial Officer (CFO) on the Executive Board (EB) of Stedin Group for the past six years. In the new year, Danny will start as CFO at engineering firm Movares.

Danny Benima: "Over the past six years, Stedin Group's investments in the gas and electricity grid have doubled to over € 1 billion by 2024. I look back on an extraordinary time in which we worked hard with a strong team to create a financially healthy and independent Stedin, which is at the forefront of sustainability. I am therefore proud to leave Stedin with a solid foundation to make the energy transition a success. I look forward to a new challenge at engineering firm Movares."

Doede Vierstra (chair of the SB): "Danny has been an outstanding manager of Stedin's long-term financing process. He strongly improved Stedin's financial balance sheet, with a € 200 million contribution from existing shareholders in 2021; the central government joining as a € 500 million shareholder; and other new shareholders, such as the provinces of Utrecht and Zeeland. These steps were crucial for Stedin's capital position and the energy transition. The SB is very grateful to Danny for this."

With Danny's departure, the SB will begin the search for a new CFO. This will be done through the SB's Selection and Remuneration Committee, with the aim of appointing a new CFO in 2025. For the sake of continuity, the SB decided to appoint Eelco de Boer as interim CFO of Stedin from 1 January 2025. Danny will stay on until the end of 2024.
